Outlook on Invisalign . . .

Credit: Smiles Dental Care

I know this may seem random but, because my Dad is a Dentist and offers orthodontics work Invisalign is a product I often hear him discussing with patients and staff. I also see many of my peers at school opting for this teeth-aligning solution over traditional braces. Since I have heard how popular and how expensive it is I thought wow, this must be a successful company. And yes, I was correct as they have; “helped bring smiles to approximately 14 million people”(quoted by Align Tech). This has caused the Align Tech stock to be a permanent buy rating for a couple of years with analysts saying the stock will raise over 66% to $334.63 in 2023.

Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment that has changed the way people straighten their teeth. Developed in 1997 by Zia Chishti and Kelsey Wirth, Invisalign uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners to gradually shift teeth into their proper position. These aligners are made of smooth, comfortable plastic and are virtually invisible when worn, hence the name "Invisalign."

Invisalign has been incredibly successful since its launch, with over 8 million cases treated worldwide. It has become a popular alternative to traditional metal braces, particularly among adults who want a more discreet option for straightening their teeth. Invisalign has also proven to be a lucrative business, with the company reporting over $1 billion in revenue in 2019.

One of the key factors behind Invisalign's success is its effectiveness. The aligners are designed to apply gentle, consistent pressure to the teeth, gradually moving them into their desired position. This process is typically faster than traditional braces, with treatment times ranging from six months to two years depending on the severity of the case. Invisalign has also been shown to be more comfortable than braces, as the aligners are made of smooth plastic and do not have any sharp edges or protruding wires.

But what has contributed to Invisalign's success and why might someone choose it over traditional braces? Here are a few reasons:

  1. Discretion: One of the biggest advantages of Invisalign is that the aligners are virtually invisible when worn. This can be particularly appealing to adults who may be self-conscious about wearing traditional metal braces.

  2. Comfort: Invisalign aligners are made of smooth plastic, which means they do not have any sharp edges or protruding wires. This can make them more comfortable to wear compared to traditional braces, which can sometimes cause irritation and discomfort.

  3. Convenience: Invisalign aligners can be removed for special occasions and important events, making them more convenient than traditional braces. They can also be removed for brushing and flossing, which can help improve oral hygiene.

  4. Effectiveness: Invisalign has been shown to be effective in straightening teeth and correcting various orthodontic issues. It can typically straighten teeth faster than traditional braces, with treatment times ranging from six months to two years depending on the severity of the case.

In addition to its effectiveness and comfort, Invisalign has several other benefits. It allows for better oral hygiene, as the aligners can be easily removed for brushing and flossing. It is also more convenient than traditional braces, as aligners can be removed for special occasions and important events.

Overall, Invisalign has proven to be a highly successful and innovative orthodontic treatment. It's clear, comfortable aligners have helped millions of people achieve straight teeth and confident smiles, and it has become a popular choice among both adults and teenagers. Its effectiveness, convenience, and benefits have contributed to its strong financial performance and solid reputation in the orthodontic industry.
